How to Take on New Employees Cost Effectively - Step by Step

And you may not know how to structure the role, what could people do and/or about the incentives and wage subsidies that you can tap into.

There are never enough hours in the day to get to everything that you know you need to, sometimes these tasks can be tedious, taking time and energy away from you really need to focus your effort. Tasks such as updating client information, CRMs and databases, posting on social media and putting up events on Eventbrite, Facebook and Meetup, creating images and taking photos, managing registrations and sending out basic information or emails.

All of these things are should do’s but perhaps they can be done by someone else plus wouldn’t it be good to give back supporting a young person in a first job and/or someone back to work? When you think about it, there are many business and digital tasks that you could put into an ideal first job, that frees up your time and/or other team members to work on activities that give a strong return with sales and opportunities.

Now more than ever before there are a number of programs and initiatives such as School Based Apprenticeships in Business (many other fields are on offer), where generally the trainee works 1 day per week in your business, with options of part time and full time apprenticeships too. Another program, Youth Jobs PaTH which helps young people gain skills and work experience they need to get and keep a job. You can also source new employees via JobActive providers, MEGT’s Careers Hub and/or your local networks and connections.

Join Ja Turnbull from MEGT and Wendy Perry, Managing Director at Workforce BluePrint, and Entrepreneurship Facilitator at Switch Start Scale, who has employed school based apprentices for many years and swears by the efficiency and productivity they can bring to your business, going through a step by step process to make it easy for you to take on new employees.

Entrepreneurship Facilitators are funded by the Australian Government with the initiative managed by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment.
